ZNUT boss warns ‘sexy’ teachers
By Staff Reporter
Zambia National Teachers Union (ZNUT) has threatened to revoke licences for teachers engaged in sexual relationship with their pupils.
ZNUT General Secretary Newman Bubala says it is extremely unprofessional for teachers to engage in intimate relationships with pupils.
Bubala said parents entrust their children to learn from teachers, adding that it is therefore mandatory for officers assigned to ensure that they take responsibility to create a conducive environment for pupils free from any form of abuse.
Speaking to ZANIS in an interview, Bubala added that it was shameful for professional teachers to engage in sexual acts with their pupils, when they should be creating a responsible citizenry.
Bubala has since warned teachers that anyone found wanting will be punished accordingly and risk having their licenses revoked.
Recently, a teacher was reported to have been involved in sexual activities with a 14-year-old pupil in Mumbwa district.
