INDEPENDENT Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has directed Multi-Choice Zambia to suspend Lusaka Hustle Reality show on Zambezi Magic channel with immediate effect.
In a statement, IBA Director General Josephine Mapoma said that the decision to suspend the show was in public interest, following public outcry that the show promotes a lifestyle contrary to the Zambian values and culture.
“The Authority has received several comments from the public concerning the show which is why we have decided to withdraw the programme,” she said.
She said the Authority had taken the decision in line with the IBA Principal Act of 2002 which provides that all programmes by a commercial broadcasting service should be subjected to the conditions of a license and regulations of the authority.
Mapoma urged producers to produce content that reflected the Zambian culture and take into consideration the existing laws.
She called on television stations acquiring local content to ensure that the content both film and musical was in line with the Zambian culture.
