Twelve aspirants have expressed interest to contest the Katuba parliamentary seat on the UPND ticket.
Central Province chairman Albert Chifita explained that the provincial leadership was overwhelmed with individuals willing to vie for the Katuba parliamentary by-election slated for July 30.
“We have received overwhelming response from our party members that have expressed interest in vying for the Katuba parliamentary by-election on the UPND ticket,” Chifita said without disclosing the names of those who have expressed interest in the seat.
Chifita further noted that the UPND in Central Province was optimistic that it would retain the Katuba parliamentary seat.
“The prevailing situation on the ground is in our favour and we are confident that will retain the Katuba parliamentary seat on July 30,” said Chifita.
The Katuba parliamentary by-election has been necessitated by the death of UPND’s Patricia Mwashingwele.
