Mongu man found dead

A body of an unidentified man was in the early hours of yesterday discovered in the bush near old Shoprite area in Mongu.
The man is believed to have been lynched by unknown assailants who later dumped his body at a near-by bush opposite the abandoned cemetery.
The body was found by some passers-by around 06:00hours in the morning who later informed the Police.
Police officers from the criminal investigations wing had a tough time trying to disperse the inquisitive crowd.
A closer look at the man’s body revealed that he had deep cuts on his head and his hands were tied with a cloth.
And residents of old Shoprite area have appealed to authorities in the province to consider opening in the area.
One of the residents, Felix Ngenda told ZANIS that they were now living in fear following the death of the man in the area.
Ngenda said the population around old Shoprite and Mongu District Hospital areas had grown rapidly and required a Police Post to minimize criminal activities.
He also described the incident as unfortunate adding that something must be done to protect the people’s lives around the area.
Ngenda said the incident was not the first of its kind adding that there had been some attacks on people by some unknown assailants due to lack of security in the area.
Meanwhile, police in the area have picked up the body of the man and deposited it in Lewanika General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem and identification by relatives.
