Over 512 pupils from 34 schools in Kalabo and Liuwa have benefited school requirements and school fees from the Mwangala Mwenda foundation.

Speaking in an interview with NewsDayZambia.com, Mwangala Mwenda foundation chief field officer, Muletambo Mutakatala said that the organization is making extreme efforts to sponsor the vulnerable in the rural schools of Kalabo and Liuwa.

“Girls experience high rate of exclusion from education, we are sponsoring pupils from grade 1 to 11,” Mutakatala said.

He explained that the foundation decided to sponsor pupils from rural parts because of the many cases of early marriages.

“We have a case in Lingoma area where a 15-year-old girl dropped out of school and got married, we retrieved the girl,” he explained.

Mutakatala further stated that the organization carried out sensitizations on the importance of education to communities in Liuwa and Kalabo.
