PF risk losing Luangeni seat – Phiri
By Staff Reporter
A political squabble has ensued in Luangeni constituency following the suspension of area Member of Parliament, Charles Zulu.
And a resident Charles Phiri who is also Luntwere farming block chairperson said the suspension of the MP had concerned some residents in the area.
Phiri told Feel Free radio station that the current misunderstanding between the constituency committee and Zulu had potential of derailing development in the constituency.
“The suspension of Zulu from the ruling party does not only affect him alone, but all the people of Luangeni. Zulu has been a hardworking parliamentarian who has transformed the face of the area. The PF should be careful, as they risk losing the seat because Zulu has remained vibrant even during the time he served as an independent MP,” said Phiri.
Phiri added that it is disheartening to see elected leaders such as councillors and the Member of Parliament working in isolation at the expense of the people of Luangeni.
“Am calling upon the two parties to immediately iron out their differences for the sake of development,” he said
And Charles Zulu said his allegiance remained with the people who elected him as member of parliament.
Meanwhile, PF secretary general Davies Mwila said Zulu’s suspension was upheld though it was executed by the grassroots.
The Patriotic Front in Luangeni suspended Zulu from the party on allegations that he was working with former Bahati MP, Harry Kalaba.
