ZCID to shun national dialogue meeting

The Zambia Centre for Interparty Dialogue (ZCID) have announced they will not attend tomorrow’s national dialogue meeting organized by the three Church mother bodies.
Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka today, ZCID board Chairperson Nathan Mulonga said the decision had been arrived at after a consultative meeting with all the political parties under the centre.
“ZCID did not agree with the three Church mother bodies on the agenda, road-map and component of the secretariat for national dialogue meeting which is expected to take place tomorrow,” said Mulonga.
And Mulonga has advised the three Church mother bodies namely, the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia, the Council of Churches in Zambia and the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops not to go ahead with the meeting until all pending issues between the two parties were resolved.
The three Church mother bodies are expected to launch the national dialogue in Lusaka tomorrow.
All parties including the ruling Patriotic Party committed themselves to attending the meeting.
Last week, ZCID told newsdayzambia.com that the three Church mother bodies did not have any mandate to convene the inter-party dialogue.
