THE Ministry of Home Affairs says its malicious to suggest that home affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo directed the arrest and prosecution of four police officers dismissed by the command last month at Sesheke Police Station.
In a statement, Public Relations Officer, Nephas Chifuta has described such stories in the social media as false and malicious.
Chifuta warned that publication of false and malicious information was an offence which attracts severe punishment under the laws of Zambia.
“Kampyongo has never held any meeting on the outcome of the Sesheke Parliamentary by-election with either senior police officers nor Ministry of Home Affairs members of staff,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chifuta said that the prosecution of criminal suspects is the jurisdictional mandate of the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) and not the Minister of Home affairs.
