Kazungula Bridge construction stalls again

By Staff Reporter

The construction of Kazungula Bridge has stalled again due to non-availability of funding from the Zambian government.

In a letter obtained by newsdayzambia.com Daewoo Engineering and Construction company administration manager HongSeouk Park said the assured amount by the employer’s representatives to offset the overdue amount by the assured date has not been fulfilled.

Park said the company is still experiencing financial constraints and will not be able continue with the project until the foregoing constraint is resolved.

“In this regard, please be informed that the site will be closed from Monday the 18thmarch 2019 till further notice,” said Park.

Last week works and supply permanent secretary Charles Mushota assured that the Zambian government would meet it’s US$19 million partner obligation.
