Road Transport and Safety Agency says no fatalities were recorded in yesterday’s road traffic accident involving a Lusaka-bound Power Tools passenger bus along the Great North Road.

Contrary to social media postings last night indicating that over 30 people died and several others sustained injuries, RTSA head of public relations, Frederick Mubanga, stated in a press release today that only 11 out of the 52 passengers sustained minor injuries in the traffic mishap that occurred at Luashimba between Kabwe and Kapiri Mposhi.

According to Mubanga, the traffic accident happened around 18:50 hours after Lottie Kahilu, the driver of the bus, registration number BCA 4097, lost control as he attempted to avoid hitting into another motor vehicle that had joined the road abruptly.

” There were no fatalities recorded,” stated Mubanga. “Eleven, out of the fifty-two passengers have sustained minor injuries and have been admitted to Kapiri District Hospital. The Road Transport and Safety Agency wish to caution all motorists to exercise maximum patience on the road to avoid such accidents.”
