945,000 apply for boreholes – WARMA
By Staff Reporter
WATER Resources Management Authority (WARMA) has received about 945,000 applications for boreholes drilling.
WARMA Acting Director Lemmy Namayanga advised existing borehole owners to register their boreholes in order to avoid the authority from allowing drilling of boreholes to new applicants within the 30 meters radius.
“The registration of boreholes will help the authority manage underground water as well as control the sinking of bore holes in the country,” he said.
Namayanga added that the authority had so far registered about 15,521 existing boreholes and encouraged those who had not done so as the deadline of March 30, 2019 was approaching.
He stated the authority registered about 20- 25 bore holes in a day country wide.
“This is not a money-making venture this is to help us manage the resource and control the sinking of resources,” he said.
