CENTRAL Province National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth chairman Delkins Bwalya has implored the police to investigate and arrest individuals issuing threats against the party’s president Chishimba Kambwili.
In a statement, Bwalya stated that the Zambia Police officers should not be selective when investigating individuals perpetuating political violence.
“As youths in the NDC, we are concerned with the threats being issued against the NDC president Chishimba Kambwili in the aftermath of the Roan parliamentary by-election. We would want to appeal to the Zambia Police officers not to be selective when investigating and prosecuting people that are perpetuating political violence in the country,” Bwalya stated.
“The police officers should investigate this matter and ensure that individuals behind threats being issued against the NDC president are brought to book.”
He expressed optimism that the police would act proactively and carry out their investigations professionally and impartially.
“The men and women in uniform should be proactive, investigate this matter professionally and impartially,” stated stated.
He further called for civility in Zambian politics.
“Politics of hooliganism should not be entertained in modern politics, especially in a democracy like Zambia. We need civility in the way we practice politics in this era,” stated Bwalya.
