THE wife to Nalolo Independent member of parliament George Muhali Imbuwa has asked the Lusaka High Court to dissolve the marriage, on grounds among others that her husband has denied her conjugal rights since September 2017.
According to a petition for dissolution of marriage filed in the principal registry on Friday, Ushe Mweemba Imbuwa wants the court to dissolve her marriage because it has broken down irretrievably.
She says her husband has abandoned the matrimonial home as he has been staying at Parliament Motel since 2016.
Ushe explained that her husband only goes home when parliament was on recess and sleeps in a separate room and were now leaving separate lives.
She said her husband did not eat home cooked meals with the rest of the family.
“The respondent has been uninterested and unresponsive to any suggestions of intimacy and has not been intimate with the petitioner physically or otherwise,” Ushe stated.
Ushe says Imbuwa consumes food which he buys from restaurants.
The couple married under customary law on December 5, 2007 and subsequently registered their marriage under the provisions of the Marriage Act on November 21, 2011.
They have been living as husband and wife since 2007 to date and resided at Plot No. 687/3A, Pelican Road in Makeni.
The couple have three children together and she was aware that her husband has three other children from his previous marriage.
