Chipata man, 26 arrested for defiling daughter

Police in Chipata have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly defiling his one-year-old step daughter.

 

Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Lackson Sakala told journalists that the accused, identified as Masaiti Mwale, a Malawian national of Chipata’s Mchini compound is reported to have defiled the toddler in the early hours of yesterday.

 

Sakala explained that the accused is reported to have gone home late between 24:00hrs and 06:00hrs and found his wife and the daughter asleep and he later separated them.

 

He further said the mother was alerted after she heard the cries of the toddler and found her husband defiling the baby.

 

Sakala added that the girl’s mother reported the matter to police and the suspect has since been arrested and charged with defilement.

 

In another development, Sakala has disclosed that police in Vubwi have arrested a 32-year-old man for inserting a stick into the private parts of his 36-year-old ex-lover.

 

He explained that Grevazio Sakala of Ndevu village in Chief Pembamoyo’s area is reported to have sneaked into the house of his ex-girlfriend of the same village.

 

Sakala stated that the suspect, with help from another unknown man attacked the victim and inserted a stick into her private parts.

 

He said the victim sustained bruises and has since been referred to Mwami Mission Hospital for further treatment.

 

Sakala disclosed that the suspect was arrested in Katete district yesterday on his way to Lusaka and has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
