33 arrested for immigration offences

The Immigration Department has arrested 33 people for various offences including illegal entry into the country

In a statement to the media on Wednesday Immigration Public Relations Officer Namati Nshinka said the Department during the same operation which was carried out between 10th and 12th August, 2018 also arrested another Malawian in Chipata district and 7 Congolese in Kabwe for the similar offence.

“A total of thirty three (33) persons were arrested for various offences countrywide during the same period, two Zambians in Kabwe were also arrested for aiding the illegal entry of seven Congolese nationals, one Chinese arrested in Solwezi for failing to observe conditions of an employment permit when he was found working as an accountant, instead of a technician.,” said Nshinka

Nshinka said in Solwezi, another Chinese was arrested for applying for an employment permit whilst in the country.

“In Lusaka, one American and one Chinese were arrested for uttering fake approval letters for employment permits,”

In Lundazi, eight Malawians were arrested for illegal entry in the country.
