Sikongo Teacher in Court for Murdering his wife Over Beer

HIGH Court Judge Gertrude Chawatama on Tuesday heard how a teacher at Lwahumba primary school of Sikongo, Western Province allegedly murdered his wife following a dispute over beer.
Testifying before Judge Chiwatama sitting in Mongu, the accused, Kalezhi Kanyanga’s juvenile daughter said her father brutally beat the mother after they differed over the quantities of a local brew.
During her testimony, she told the court that the dispute arose when her father accused the deceased of not buying enough beer commensurate to the K200 he gave her.
Kanyanga, 52 of Chiseko village in Chief Mundandwe’ s area of Kalabo district was charged for murder contrary to section 200 penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the matter were that on April 6, 2017, Kanyanga did cause the unlawful death of his wife, Edina Malikana Nosiku with whom he has a five year old daughter.
Three witnesses who included Sipwela village head man, Mwalye Lukela and the mother to the deceased, Nosiku Mwalye have so far given testimonies.
