TWO men of Limulunga district, Western Province were on Tuesday sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering Kamwi Sichone of the same district.
Nyambi Nyambi 43, a peasant farmer of Namaenya village and Shaft Biemba Ngenda 36 of Yande village in Limulunga have been sentenced for life imprisonment with hard labour for the murder of Sichombe.
The duo appeared before Lusaka High court judge William Mweemba during a criminal session held in Mongu.
Particulars of the offense before court were that on 11 June 2016 the duo whilst acting together did murder Sichombe of Kashala village after Nyambi and Ngenda threatened to kill the deceased during a drinking spree of local illicit brew and later went ahead to lay an ambush for him.
In delivering ruling, Court relied on the provisions of section 207 (1) of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia and section 200 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia which states that if murder or grievous bodily harm occur to a victim who was subject of discussion by the accused, then section 204 shall be effected when determing the matter.
During trial, the prosecution substantiated that an axe was used in the murder as proved by the postmortem report tendered before court as prosecution evidence.
In delivering ruling judge Mweemba said that there was malice and aforethought in the killing of Sichombe.
