The Choma Magistrates Court has sentenced the man accused of stealing a bicycle to 30 months imprisonment with hard labour.

Cheelo Mwiinga of Kalomo district was accused of stealing a bicycle valued at K2, 800 from Eric Mutuba.

Mutuba’s buffalo bicycle went missing after parking it at a named school and only later found it with Anold Munkombwe of Choma’s Zimbabwe Compound.

Munkombwe claimed that he bought the bicycle from the defendant at K600.

The defendant had no claim of right and the court found him guilty in his own admission.

In mitigation, Mwiinga asked for lenience vowing never to repeat his actions.

Magistrate Richard Chikalanga however sentenced the defendant to a total two years six months imprisonment with hard labour, starting on June 6, 2018.
