Kalabo pharmacist in court for theft

A pharmacy technologist last week Wednesday appeared before the Kalabo subordinate court facing charges of theft by public servant contrary to article 278 of the penal code Cap 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Polnsiano Mwanza has been remanded in prison subject to legal satisfaction of a K30, 000 bail and two working sureties granted in his favour.
Mwanza, 26, an employee at Kalabo district health office is jointly charged with an Angolan national for alleged theft of over 200 sachets of Coartem drugs worth K58, 000.
The Angolan national, identified as Quini Nomai, 41, is facing one count of receiving property believed to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained contrary to article 318 of the penal code cap 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Alert police officers in Sikongo district arrested the Angolan national who was found in possession of a contraband of Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) branded Coartem drugs destined for Angola for sale in that country.
But when the matter came up before magistrate Mulele Siisii, the accused could not take plea because the Angolan national failed to avail himself in court.
The matter has since been adjourned to February 4, 2019 for plea.
Magistrate Siisii however warned the accused persons against tampering with evidence pertaining to the matter for which they were jointly charged.
