Supreme Court should be supreme – Pilato

By Staff Reporter

Singer Chama Fumba aka Pilato has challenged the judiciary to tell the nation on what citizen should do when they suspect that some judges are corrupt.

Pilato expressed disappointment over the Anti-corruption activist Gregory Cifire’s sentence to six years imprisonment for contempt of court when he criticised the supreme court judges over a judgement and asked the chief justice to institute investigations.

“I have a few questions…so what should citizens do when they suspect that some judges are corrupt? How can the citizens participate in bettering our institutions when they are punished for expressing their views on the conduct of the officers?” he questioned.

“The court should lead the way in promoting the enjoyment of human rights instead of clipping those that dare to do so. A citizen asking for justice is a responsible citizen so, Free Cifire,” he said.
