Two Sesheke Wildlife Officers in Court for Murder

TWO wildlife officers of Sesheke, Western Province yesterday appeared before Lusaka high Court judge Getrude Chawatama for murder contrary to section 200 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

Mufaya Mukelabai and Masiye Masiye both  employees of the department of wildlife in Sesheke district are alleged to have murdered Namitala Mundowe on 25 August 2017 in Masiye village of Imusho area.

Four witnesses who included Dr Catherine Zulu 36 of Yeta district hospital in Sesheke and three peasant farmers – Taulo Mundowe,  Mubuso Sikuka and Matome Kapelwa of Masiye village have testified in the matter.

Trial in the matter continues with three more witnesses to be called before court.

In her testimony, Dr Zulu said Mundowe’s body was found with right limb and genitalia lower abdominal cavity missing.

The duo is being represented by Kelvin Muzenga from legal aid, Victor Kachaka of  ICN Legal Practioners and Kampamba Kombe of Andrew and Partners while those on the prosecution side are Rose Kuzwayo and senior state advocate Chipanta Mwansa.
