Kambwili granted bail
By Staff Reporter
Roan PF member of parliament Chishimba Kambwili has been granted bail by the Lusaka magistrates’ court after pleading not guilty to a corruption charge.
Last week, the Anti Corruption Commission charged Kambwili with possession of property and money suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Appearing before magistrate Mwaka Mikalile on Wednesday morning, Kambwili denied all the 34 counts slapped on him.
He has since been granted cash bail in the sum of K10, 000 in his own cognisance, with two working sureties from reputable organisations and in managerial positions at a sum of K100, 000 in their own cognisance.
UPND members of parliament, Douglas Syakalima and Patricia Mwashingwele were recorded by the court as Kambwili’s sureties.
Lusaka lawyers Keith Mweemba and Christopher Mundia are representing Kambwili in this matter.
The matter comes up on June 4 for commencement of trial.
