ZAFCA sees bright side of local coach snub

Zambia Football Coaches Association (ZAFCA) president Daniel Kabwe says local coaches will see the imminent appointment of a foreign trainer as a challenge to improve their credentials.
In an interview with FAZfootball.com, Kabwe said local coaches needed to up their qualifications to make them as competitive as any coaches anywhere.
Kabwe said the pronouncement that local coaches would be sent for training was a step in the right direction.
“When the new coach is brought in, let us have at least some local coaches to be under studies so that knowledge is shared,we only have one Zambian with a UEFA A qualification with Mr Kalusha Bwalya and the rest of us have UEFA B licenses. We need to do more in terms of training,”Kabwe said
“We need to do more in terms of coach education, for instance only 29 Zambians have a CAF A licence and that was from a training done four years ago,” he said.
On Monday, during the MTN Bola Show, FAZ president Andrew Kamanga disclosed that no local coach had applied for the vacant Chipolopolo job.
The Chipolopolo job fell vacant after Belgian born trainer Sven Vandenbroeck parted ways with the association on March 30.
Vandenbroeck was tasked to qualify Zambia to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations but failed to meet that target.
