Zambia Under-20 national team coach Charles Bwale has promised fans of an improved game during the Mopani Copper Mines Cosafa championship that kicks off on Sunday in Kitwe.
Bwale told FAZfootball.com from the training base at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka that the team was geared for the tournament.
He said the boys were looking forward to the challenge with the target of doing better than last year’s first round ejection on home soil.
“At this upcoming tournament, you will see something different, unlike the way we did last year. Most of the boys have grown in stature and mentally,” said Bwale.
Meanwhile, midfielder Albert Kangwanda expressed optimism at the team’s chances at the tournament.
“We are fully prepared and ready to take on whoever comes our way. We have prepared very well, there is unity, and we will bring a smile to the Zambian people. We just want to fight and make our fans proud,” he said.
Kangwanda has denied being under pressure heading into the 2018 U20 COSAFA Championships.
The final tournament will take place between 2nd and 14th December in Kitwe and Mufulira.
Zambia is in Group A alongside Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi and Mozambique.
And Bwale will have two Europe based players in Edward Chilufya (Djurgardens IF-Sweden) and Mwiya Malumo (Vulcan FC-England).
