The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has hailed the Luanshya Municipal Council for honouring outstanding sportsmen and women that brought glory to the area.

Luanshya council has allocated sportsmen and women free residential plots.

And FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said the association had offered to hold a football match as part of the celebrations for the many outstanding sports personalities to have come out of Luanshya.

“This is a very welcome development to honour sportsmen who have raised the flag of Luanshya town. FAZ will be at your disposal to support you in this regard. As FAZ, we suggest that a match be held as part of the celebrations. We can discuss the details of the match befitting this occasion,” Kamanga stated.

“Congratulations for providing leadership in honouring our football legends, and it remains my sincere belief that other cities and towns will emulate your initiative.”

Among the nominees are former Roan United stars Happy Simfukwe, Happy Malama, Ginger Pensulo, Joel Bwalya, Dan Kabwe, Collins Mbesuma and John Lungu.

Others are former Mufulira Wanderers and National Team captain Dickson Makwaza and former referee Leah Namukonda.
