Vegetables and Fruits to be sold at a temporal market in Kabwata

An open space has been identified for the vegetables and fruits market as the clean up exercise by military and security personnel at Soweto market and other parts of town in Lusaka have continued.
Government and the Zambia national farmers union have set up a temporal fruits and vegetable markets on ring road.
The temporal market space identified on ring road in Kabwata near ZHIPAS is expected to start operations on Thursday if all works are completed on time.
The Market will be strictly run by farmers and middle men be cut out while Lusaka city council and military personnel will assist the farmers to manage security and the processes.
A K30 – K50 kwacha levy to farmers for use of market.
Meanwhile, Opposition United Party for National Development youths have applauded government decision to remove street vendors from the streets in view of the cholera outbreak.
National chairperson for youth, sports and child development Michael Chuzu said removing vendors was the only logical way of fighting the epidemic that has so far claimed more than 60 lives since it broke out in October.
