Paramount Chief Chitimukulu of the Bemba people of Northern Province has called for partnership between Traditional leaders and the private sector in Zambia.

Speaking in Johannesburg, South Africa during the Patrice Motsepe Foundation conference for traditional leaders of SADC countries yesterday, Chitimukulu said private sector partnership with traditional authorities would help coordinate action and principles among entrepreneurs.

He said partnerships would further provide a platform for exchange of ideas concerning sustainable development and society’s well being.

Chitmukulu observed that the partnership between traditional authorities and private entrepreneurs should be encouraged in Zambia as this had worked in other African countries.

He also called on exchange programs among various traditional authorities in southern Africa region.

Chitimukulu has since commended the Foundation for embracing traditional authorities in its operation as well as inviting him to participate at the Conference for the second time.

And founder chairperson Patrice Motsepe said traditional authorities were key in national development as they were custodian of land, natural resources and communities in villages.
