Inter-party elections have divided us – East PF member

PATRIOTIC Front member in Chipangali district, Eastern Province says the on-going intra-party elections in the region have entrenched divisions in the ruling party.

Speaking to newsdayZmbia.com this morning Maxson Nkhoma said lack of transparency by officials conducting elections would leave the party deeply divided.

“It is shameful that various aspiring candidates have been barred from contesting and some are being threatened with expulsions if they insist to contest some positions. The injustices that had marred the hosting of the elections are well calculated moves aimed at removing President Edgar Lungu from office in 2021,” said Nkhoma.

“I questioned officials in charge of elections to tell the people the criteria they are using to declare all elective positions unopposed. I also challenged former Mufumbwe member of parliament, Steven Masumba and party chairperson for elections Yamfwa Mukanga to desist from cheating the President that elections were being done in the party’s interest.” lamented Nkhoma.

Nkhoma has however encouraged aggrieved party members in the province not to defect to other political parties but remain clam ahead of 2021 general elections.
