We have been neglected by our MP – Chipata residents

RESIDENTS of Chipata Central constituency of Eastern Province have expressed disappointment with ‘absentee’ area member of parliament Moses Mawere.
Speaking to newsdayZambia.com yesterday Joyce Mapulanga of Chauluka area in Nabvutika compound said it was sad that the area member of parliament disappeared just after winning elections in 2016.
“We have not seen the member of parliament here in Chauluka area since we voted for him, we have just been told that he has been visiting other areas but not here. He promised us during campaign that he is going to work on Mtowe – Chizongwe Road and work on the bridges but up to now nothing has been done,” Mapulanga said
“Us women in Chauluka, we lack proper information on how our welfare could be improved and we have been neglected by the people we voted for in 2016. In 2021 we need leaders who are going to work on their promises and improve our lives hood,” she said.
And when contacted for a comment, Mawere denied the claims by the residents saying he had been to the constituency many times.
Mawere who is also youth and sports minister said he had been visiting the constituency and was aware of the challenges faced by the people in the area.
“I have been in the constituency and visiting the people, I cannot be everywhere. As government we have started a lot of projects in Chipata Central just that some of them were suspended due to rains and now that rains are over, works are yet to resume,” assured Mawere.
