Constable Mwanza commits suicide

Fugitive police officer, Constable Jackson Mwanza this morning shot himself dead using an AK47 rifle at the Chainama golf course.
In a statement this morning, police public relations officer Esther Katongo said Mwanza who shot at a Chainama College student had been surrounded by officers from yesterday till today when he killed himself.
Katongo said his body is in UTH mortuary.
“The AK 47 riffle recovered. He had a lot of ammunition in the magazine which he fired in the air before shooting himself,” said Katongo.
On Friday Mwanza shot at a Chainama Health College first year student identified as Andrew Zimba, 20 of Mulungushi hostel in his left leg and bruised his left thigh.
According to Katongo on Friday the shooting incident occurred between 07:00 hours and 08:00 hours
Katongo stated that the matter started on Friday in which a case of unlawful wounding occurred at about 19:55 hours at Bennie Mwiinga Police Post in PHI in Lusaka where a student at Chainama Health College identified as Nike Fungulwa was stabbed, using a military knife, in the head, shoulder and on the arm, by Constable Mwanza.
Earlier in the day on Friday, according to Katongo, at about 17:00 hours, the officer allegedly went to the room of the student to confront him on suspicion that he had an affair with the officer’s girlfriend aged 24 of Mtendere compound.
