Easter is historic – Anamela

UNIP vice-president Njekwa Anamela says celebrating Easter is not only an important event in the life of any Christian but a significant moment in the history of mankind.

In conveying the former ruling party’s Easter message to Zambians yesterday, Anamela said the significance of the Easter period was not local, segmental or private but rather a message of hope and victory against all odds and challenges in life.

He noted that in the case of “our beloved Zambia and the sum total of our collective experiences in all walks of life,” this Easter period was an occasion to introspect and follow some great teachings of Apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 3:6-18 which warns us against idleness.

Among other things Apostle Paul said, as reproduced by Anamela, is that “in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us…..”

He added that in Deuteronomy 28:12, scripture stated that “the Lord will open the Heavens, the store house of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.”

“The above teachings are not only radical but revolutionary in their message to both the leadership of this country and citizens alike in dealing with various economic and social conditions, including the scourge of such vices as corruption and debt accumulation,” said Anamela.

“These teachings reflect and encourage a change in mindset towards a resurrection of our national integrity and social and economic conditions.
We wish a happy Easter to all.”
