ZAF officer arrested for child abuse

Police in Lusaka have arrested a 32-year-old Zambia Air force officer for assaulting his 11-year-old niece.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer Esther Katongo said the officer whose name has been withheld was arrested after a concerned member of the public reported the child battering matter to Woodlands Police.
Katongo said the report was that the 11-yea- old girl was between March 25, 2019 and April 11, 2019 allegedly being abused and assaulted by her aunt of Twin Palm who is a Lieutenant in the Zambia Air Force.
“The girl sustained serious burns all over the body as hot spoons are alleged to have been used to inflict injuries. The victim is currently admitted at the ZAF health facility receiving medical attention,” said Katongo
She said the suspect is in custody and is likely to appear in court on Tuesday.
