Lukanga Water and Sewerage Company (LWSC) says the water utility company intends will use solar facilities in most of its water plants by the year 2023.

In a statement Lukanga water public relations officer Lois Mwape said the measure would reduce the cost of water production and distribution, while boosting its service provision in the province.

Mwape explained that solar pumping is a better alternative solution to boost water supply in all its service areas in the next five years with the increasing advances in solar water pumping technology.

He added that there is need to use solar energy in order to lessen dependence on convention energy, which was costly.
