ZRA gives confiscated cooking oil to service organisations

Over 70,000 litres of smuggled cooking oil has been donated to various health institutions, correctional services and David Kaunda Technical Secondary School in Lusaka.

Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda made the donation saying the authority had invoked the law which mandates him to dispose of perishable goods that are smuggled into the country.

He said the decision to seize and forfeit smuggled items was intended to stop smuggling.

The six organisations that have received the cooking oil are Lusaka district health office, Sikanze Hospital, David Kaunda Technical Secondary School, St’ Johns Hospital, Zambia Correctional Services and Beit Cure Hospital.

And Zambia Correctional Service deputy Commissioner General Lloyd Chilundika said the cooking oil would go a long way in improving the quality of food to be prepared for the offenders.
