WESTERN Water and Sewerage Company (WWSSC) board chairperson, Patricia Mulasikwanda says the integrated Small Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project will improve access to quality and clean water supply in the Province.

Mulasikwanda said a US$42.1 loan from African Development Bank (ADB) towards the implementation of the project would benefit Limulunga, Senanga, Sesheke and Kaoma with water sourced from the Zambezi River.

Mulasikwanda said government is keen to improve the water supply in Western province in the midst of climate change.

Mulasikwanda also explained that in as much as the colour of the water is brown, chlorine is being added to make it safe from any bacteriological and organic content.

And Mulasikwanda has assured residents of Limulunga that the company will work on pressure filters and mobilize resources to install an iron removal plant to resolve the iron content and improve the quality of water supply.

Meanwhile, Limulunga District Commissioner (DC), Litambo Ndombo said that the people of Limulunga had been struggling in accessing pure water supply for a long time now.

He said the existing tank is old and the machinery and pipes had been opened hence, water circulating contains iron.

Ndombo complained that several times, the district administration had engaged the water utility company to look into the plight of Limulunga residents.
