Drama has continued to unfold in the opposition United Party for National Development – UPND in Northern Province.
And UPND Secretary General Stephen Katuka has denied having written a letter circulating in the social media suspending vice-president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba.
Radio Mano in Kasama reports that the UPND provincial spokesperson, John Sampa has warned his embattled provincial chairperson Nathan Ilunga that he remains suspended.
On Friday last week the UPND suspended Ilunga as its provincial chairperson accusing him of failing to take the party forward.
But in a dramatic turn of events, Katuka yesterday suspended Kasama District chairperson Jairos Tembo.
In a letter signed by Katuka and addressed to Tembo, dated 14th April, 2019 also made available to Mano Radio, Tembo has been suspended for 90 days for gross indiscipline.
Katuka added that during the three months suspension,Tembo would not participate in any party activities at any level.
Meanwhile, Tembo has described his suspension as null and void as Katuka did not follow the right procedure when suspending him.
Tembo has since maintained that Nathan ILunga is no longer the provincial chairperson for UPND.
Meanwhile, Katuka denied having written a letter suspending GBM from the party saying it was a malicious ploy to divide the leadership of the party.
