Mwaliteta granted K5,000 bail

LUSAKA Province UPND chairman Obvious Mwaliteta has appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ court and has been granted K5,000 bail.
Mwaliteta and his co-accused James Sichomba appeared before Magistrate Alice Walusiku, charged with possession of offensive weapons contrary to Section 85 sub-section one of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.
They have been in police detention since last week Wednesday.
When the duo appeared in court this morning, they could not take plea because there were no instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Magistrate Walusiku granted the duo K5, 000 cash bail each with two working sureties with K5, 000 each in their own recognizance.
UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema led a host of party members to offer solidarity as Mwaliteta appeared in court.
