Muchinga Province minister Malozo Sichone has assured the residents of Chinsali, the housing construction project by National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) shall be undertaken in Chinsali and not Mpika.
Residents on Chinsali yesterday protested at NAPSA offices demanding an explanation from the authority officials why the 600 housing units project would now be implemented in Mpika and not Chinsali as earlier announced.
Some residents of Chinsali district accused Sichone of trying to divert the project.
In an interview this morning one of the residents, Felix Nongo said it was disappointing that Sichone wanted to divert the houses to Mpika as the houses are meant to benefit the residents in the area.
Sichone advised resident of Chinsali to avoid acting on speculations and instead to seek the truth from designated offices of government.
Sichone said that he was only informed by Chinsali Central member of parliament Kalalwe Mukosa that NAPSA would build low cost houses in the district.
And Bernard Kampamba has called on the residents not to allow Sichone to use his influence and authority to divert the low cost housing project which NAPSA has undertaken to implement in Chinsali.
Mukosa told the people of Chinsali to remain confident that the project shall be implemented in Chinsali as initially planned.
He said NAPSA would soon start building the low cost houses in the area.
