South Africa’s United Front protest Eskom’s 19.9% tariff hike at NERSA hearings

SOUTH Africa’s United Front is today picketing against the state-owned power provider, Eskom following its proposal to hike electricity tariff hike by 19.9 per cent.
United Front Johannesburg Region chairperson Trevor Ngwane confirmed from the South African commercial capital moments ago that the United Front (UF) together with the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa, would stage the entire-day picket at the Midrand Conference Centre, Johannesburg during public hearings by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) on the proposed tariff hike.
“The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) will be conducting the last day of public hearings on Eskom’s revenue application for the 2018/2019 financial year and its request for a 19.9% tariff increase. NUMSA and the United Front will also be making submissions to NERSA on the tariff increase,” Ngwane said.
