Kabwe urges media owners to invest in investigative journalism

Media Network on Child Rights and Development (MNCRD) executive director Henry Kabwe has expressed concern that the media in the country has prioritised  political reporting at the expense of developmental stories.

In an interview with NewsDayZambia.com today, Kabwe said the media had been highly politicised and lacked investment in investigative journalism.

“This trend tends to make citizens lag behind in terms of information on key important issues like sustainable development goals, gender and human rights,” Kabwe said.

“There is need for us to reflect and invest more on investigative reporting that is lacking in Zambia and also promote advocacy journalism,” Kabwe said.

Kabwe who has been involved with media reforms in the country urged the practitioners to improve their reportage while ensuring observance of the profession’s ethics.
