Police and Patriotic Front cadres in Petauke district of Eastern Province on Monday blocked Democratic Party Presidential candidate Harry Kalaba and his team from entering Petauke district.

The PF thugs that were armed with machetes vowed not to allow Kalaba in Petauke accusing him of wanting to destroy the PF.

Zambia Police who were in heavy presence combined efforts with the cadres to block Kalaba from entering the district.

While at the scene, cadres were heard saying “muziba kuti bantu banatizonda kudala naimwe mubwela kufaka salt pachilonda” (You know that people here already hate us and you are also coming to add salt to the wound).

The overzealous police officers and cadres followed Kalaba making sure that they escorted him 50 km from Petauke.

And speaking to journalists at the scene, Kalaba said as DP was determined to wrestle power from PF in 2021 despite the intimidation and harrasment.

“What PF should realize is that people are tired of their incompetence and are not interested in them anymore. It’s time for PF to pack their bags in peace and allow serious people to lead this country because Zambians can no longer tolerate these levels of lawlessness by this government. Let me remind PF that we are not in a war zone but we are in a democratic country where people should be allowed to sell their vision to the country and allow the people to decide who to vote for,” said Kalaba.

Kalaba wondered why the PF had completely abandoned democratic tenets.

“This is the same PF mocking people with dialogue and reconciliation. But today they have turned to fight DP. Let me warn PF that we are aware that they are scared of us, no wonder they have now resorted to violence. But PF should know that we are not pushovers and no amount of violence will stop us from getting power from them,” he said

On Saturday Police in Mambwe District of Eastern Province stopped Kalaba from conducting meetings in the area.

Police officers intercepted Kalaba’s motorcade within Mambwe town where people gathered to listen to his address.

The police later asked Kalaba and his entourage to leave, saying he did not have a permit to conduct the meeting.

“Sir, kindly leave this place because you do not have a police permit! No one came to get a permit,” one of the officers commanded Kalaba.
