Three arrested for swindling K18, 000

Police have arrested three people for allegedly personating public officers and subsequently swindled nine members of the public out of money amounting to K18, 000.

The suspects were pretending to have been recruiting officers for the Zambia National Service, Zambia Air force, Zambia Police, and the Road Development Agency.

Police public relations officer Esther Katongo said the victims were meant to deposit money using four mobile lines namely 0970 516959, 0971 638539, 0978 163530 and 0968 040425 registered on Airtel, MTN mobile money and Zoona money transfer.

She said the money was later withdrawn by the suspects who were also found with fake documents.

Katongo said the transactions took place betweend between August and October this year at different dates and time.
The suspects have been identified as Temwani Chilongo aged 29 of Garden House in Lusaka, Patulani Chilongo aged 32 of Luangwa Township in Kitwe and Isaac Longwa aged 30 of Kalunduview in Kafue.
They are currently detained in police custody awaiting charges of Obtaining Money by False Pretences, Forgery and Uttering False Documents, and Impersonation.”
