Reflect on M’membe’s statement – Luonde

Socialist Party spokesperson Richard Luonde has urged citizens to reflect on issues raised by the party’s 2021 presidential candidate Fred M’membe recently.

On Tuesday, Dr M’membe raised serious concerns about the country’s latest credit rating to junk status by Fitch Rating Agency.

He asked President Edgar Lungu and his team to, among other things, admit that they had overborrowed, hence the current debt crisis.

And reflecting on the statement, Father Luonde said every bit of it brought out the truth about the country’s economic status.

‘’Listening to the press briefing of our General Secretary Dr Cosmas Musumali and comrade Dr Fred M’membe, the Deputy General Secretary who is also our presidential candidate for 2021 general elections, makes sad reading in that Zambians always look to violence, lies, intimidation and half-truths,’’ he said.

‘’That statement should be followed and read between the lines and make it our daily bread because what they brought out were the calamities that we are to experience if we continue with this government after 2021. Zambians should genuinely, whether educated or not educated, sit with certain people and let these people interpret or tell them what that press briefing brought out. It made my hair move and shake, I shivered because the truth in what they were saying was genuine.’’

He said the economy was being destroyed everyday because those in leadership did not care.
