SEEDCO is expected to open a seed production farm in Chief Kanyesha’s Chiefdom in Luano district of Central province at a total cost K75 million.

Seedco board Chairperson Chance Kabaghe also said the seed producing company was expected to transform 100 medium scale farmers into commercial farmers in Mkushi district in the next few years.

Kabaghe made the pronouncements during the Ichibwelamushi annual traditional ceremony of the Lala and Swaka speaking people held at Chalata in Mkushi district over the weekend.

“Our firm will also support the construction of a cultural village at Chalata that will be used as a transition center to teach the young generation about traditional and cultural values,” said Kabaghe

He revealed that this is where the company produces the largest amount of seed both for the country and export.

“Am assuring the 19 traditional leaders at the ceremony that Seedco would also establish a large youth skills life sustaining center in Central Province. The company will facilitate the training of women and youths to become commercial farmers,” he said.
