Chamisa says MDC ready to form govt

40-year-old Zimbabwean presidential contender Nelson Chamisa has tweeted that with over 10,000 polling stations counted, the Movement for Democratic Change is ready to form government.
On Monday, 80 per cent of the over five million registered voters cast their votes in the historical harmonised elections in which former president Robert Mugabe’s name was not on the ballot paper.
The two main presidential contenders who are supposed to win by 50 per cent plus one threshold are Chamisa and the incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa of the ruling ZANU-PF party.
With the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission expected to announce the final presidential results on August 4, Chamisa, a lawyer, has already claimed victory as indicated from a social media posting by one of the electoral observers, Whitney Mulobela:
The count is on currently, according to the Zimbabwean Electoral Act, ZEC has up to 4th August to announce the final results. Even with the result being posted on social media its too early to call. Its a tight race of course between ED of ZANU PF and Chamisa of the MDC. They both tweeted this morning;
Chamisa says “more than 10,000 polling stations have finished counting and his party is ready to form government.”
ED says “it was a beautiful expression of  democracy.”
The best for now is to wait for the official results. #ZimbabweDecides
