Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo has expressed disappointment with the working culture of health personnel at Chipata Central Hospital.

Speaking in an interview with journalists, Kasolo said he had continued to receive verbal and written complaints from the members of the public about the mistreatment of patients at the hospital.

“Some health personnel are alleged to be inefficient by drinking tea at the expense of attending to patients. I toured the health facility on Wednesday and was not pleased with what I saw,” said Kasolo.

He said the surroundings and the toilets were very dirt which was not good for a health institution which received complicated cases from various places across the province.

“I will soon move in and correct the situation so as to enable people start receiving good health services at the hospital,” he said.
