NDC Adopts Saboi Imboela For Lusaka Mayoral Race.

Opposition NDC has adopted Saboi Imboela as its candidate for the Lusaka Mayoral by-election slated for July 26.

NDC Secretary General Mwenya Musenge unveiled Imboela at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday.

Musenge said the NDC had received overwhelming response from members who wanted to stand on the NDC ticket adding that Imboela had the right credentials to run for the office.

“Imboela holds a Degree in political Science with a Distinction from the University of Zambia. She also holds a Masters Degree in International law from Canterbury University in New Zealand. She is currently a PhD student in political science at Unza. Imboela is also a Member of the Central Committee for the NDC in charge of Gender and Child Development,” said Musenge.

And the NDC has adopted Eastern Province chairperson Lugomo Phiri as its candidate for the Chipangali Council chairperson position.

He said Phiri is former MMD Eastern province chairman and he was also Edgar Lungu campaign committee Eastern Province chairperson in 2015.

Meanwhile NDC has adopted Information and Publicity Secretary for Lusaka Province, Kedson Kakunta as its candidate for the vacant Chilanga District council chairperson position.

He has further unveiled Gabriel Mbewe as its candidate for the vacant Kasenegwa Council chairperson position.

“Given Chola has been adopted to contest on the NDC as Chifunabuli council chairperson.The NDC has adopted John Lungu as its council chairperson for Lumezhi. In Mwense, the NDC has adopted Marvis Mwitwa as its candidate for the cha cha ward local government seat,” he said.

Musenge said the NDC would conduct issue-based campaigns as it jostles for the various vacant local government and mayoral polls.

Meanwhile, Musenge has maintained that the party will field its consultant, Chishimba Kambwili as its Presidential candidate in the 2021 general elections.

And the NDC Secretary General has ruled out the possibility of the NDC getting into an alliance with another political party.

“The NDC will go it alone in the 2021 polls under the leadership of Dr. Kambwili. I am also thanking PF Members of Parliament who have continued rendering support to the NDC, the PF lawmakers will at an appropriate time announce their allegiance and association with the NDC,”
