The ruling Patriotic Front has picked Miles Sampa as its candidate for the Lusaka mayoral by election scheduled for July 26.

PF secretary general Davies Mwila announced that the Central Committee meeting chaired by President Edgar Lungu to consider applications for adoptions decided to pick Sampa, the former opposition leader.

“Following extensive deliberations, the following have been adopted as council chairpersons: Chipangali District – Million Tembo, Lusangazi District – William Banda, Lumezi District – Clement Mwale, Chasefu District – Chimwemwe H. Banda, Kasenengwa District – Saul Zulu, Chifunabuli District – Kapwepwe Kaunda Innocent, Chilanga District – Annie Brown,” said Mwila

Mwila also said that Central Committee also considered Sampa because he had shown repetence for his past deeds and was therefore picked in the spirit of uniting the party and embracing new members.

He has since called on all party members to embrace Sampa.

“On behalf of the Central Committee, I thanked all those who had applied to be considered on the PF ticket as each one of them made the process competitive and democratic. The Central Committee has since called on all aspiring candidates to join the campaign teams and work towards the Party’s victory on 26th July 2018,” said Mwila.
