Govt, families split over Black Mountain victims’ burial site

Burial arrangements for several youths that died after they were buried alive at the Black Mountain slug dump in Kitwe, which was planned for today, are yet to be concluded.

Government sources from Kitwe have told Newsday Zambia on Saturday morning that government officials are insisting that the victims should not be buried at one site.

“As of this morning, the burial program is still inconclusive, especially with regard to the burial site,” the source disclosed. “The general opinion from friends is that all the victims should be buried at one site, namely Chingola Road Cemetery but tactfully government is influencing the families to split burials.”
