Don’t employ unprofessional workers – Southern PS

By Staff Reporter

Southern Province deputy permanent secretary Kennedy Mubanga has urged local contractors to engage people with capabilities to uphold professionalism in the construction industry.

Speaking at the close of a Small and Medium contractors’ workshop in Choma organized by the National Council Construction, Mubanga said shoddy works could only tarnish or compromise the standing of the companies involved.

He called for high levels of discipline in the industry.

“Some local contractors are in a habit of ‘selling’ contracts to Chinese firms once awarded by government. I urge contractors to sharpen their skills and competences in order to gain a fair share of the market,” said Mubanga

He has however observed that local contractors have now improved with the kind of works that they put up.
